SCARBOROUGH VISIT FOR CADETS OF 152 (CITY OF HULL) SQUADRON
By Squadron Leader Danielle Cooper
The February half term holiday began with a unique experience for 11 cadets from 152 (City of Hull) Squadron. The trip began with a visit to Scarborough Sealife centre and concluded with a “by invitation only” trip to GCHQ Scarborough.
A morning visit to the Sealife centre gave cadets and staff the chance to see a wide variety of fish and other marine life. This included the penguins taking their morning bath, the very energetic resident seals showing off to all those watching, and the otters enjoying breakfast.

The day out then continued with a brisk walk in the sea air for the obligatory seaside favourite of fish and chips, before a quick drive on to GCHQ.
After being issued visitor badges and passing through security, the group were given a presenta- tion on the role of GCHQ in Scarborough and had the opportunity to ask questions. This was followed by another presentation on careers within GCHQ and the possible routes, scholarships and apprentice- ships available to those interested in a future career.
The visit concluded with a look around the private museum which contains relics of GCHQ’s past. It was a privilege to be invited to attend such an establish- ment and hopefully this first visit will only be the beginning of a long-lasting relationship.
