C COY HIT THE GROUND WALKING
By SSI Donna Nixon
Major Shaun Flanagan, Officer Commanding and Captain Erica McCabe, Training Officer were warmly welcomed to C Company on their first successful training camp of the year.
With lots of smiles and personal achievements from the cadets who took part and progressed in Expedition and Navigation training up to three star level at Driffield and in the surrounding areas.
SI Diane Allen of Doncaster Detachment said: “This weekend Cadets and adult volunteers from C Company came together to take part in an Expedition Camp at Driffield Training grounds. We had the sun and the rain - but none of the cadets ranging from One Star through to Three Star let this dampen or affect their spirits.”
The cadets started the weekend by working together as a complete and focused unit to get all the individual tents up. Saturday was filled with lessons on Navigation and Expeditions and some cadets (and volunteers) put in some serious distances on expedition walks. But also with cadets learning how to live in the field, learning to cook for themselves - at times being supported by more experienced cadets - a credit to the Army Cadet Force motto "To Inspire to Achieve" in the best possible way!
"To Inspire
to Achieve" in the best possible way!
With lessons and Expeditions flowing into the Sunday the cadet's attitudes, behaviour and willingness to learn was not only fantastic to see and work with, but showed in the many passes in both Navigation and Expedition given to all Three Star Levels in attendance during the weekend.
As an adult volunteer it was an absolute pleasure to be in attendance. Not only should these cadet’s detachments be proud of the way they were this weekend, but also the Company and County as a whole. I look forward to working alongside both cadets and adults on future camps.
Cadet of the month award
By 2Lt Kate Jackson
In February we introduced a cadet of the month competition at Manor Top detachment. This is awarded to cadets for their all round contribution, including turnout, discipline, attitude, attendance and participation. It’s been awesome to see the efforts of the cadets. It can be quite challenging in awarding
it as there are so many great achievements but the cadets so far who have won have particularly shone with their continual high standards.
Each cadet of the month receives a certificate, some Naafi vouchers and 4 week ownership of our trophy ... prizes will ramp up with additional achievements, but it's more about the pride of being awarded the cadet of the month!
