MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURE FOR RAF CADETS
On Easter Sunday RAF Section Cadet Corporals Will Watkinson and Rhys Perry travelled to Capel Curig, North Wales for a 6-day mountain bike adventure run by CCAT (Cadet Centre for Adventurous Training).
This was a Basic Mountain Biking course and the content included participants learning about access and conservation, weather, clothing and equipment, safe mountain bike riding skills on a variety of marked mountain bike trails, basic maintenance and repairs, route planning and participating in a journey.
Cpls Watkinson and Perry came away from their adventure being able to demonstrate a competent level of knowledge and skills necessary to mountain bike safely on off road trails. The course nicely sets the cadets up for participating in more advanced mountain biking adventures next time!
In addition to learning valuable skills the cadets enjoyed the idyllic surroundings of North Wales making new friendships along the way. Cpl Perry said: “I really enjoyed the course, learnt a lot and would really like to attend another CCAT adventure next year.” QE CCF would like to thank the CCAT staff for making this course so enjoyable.
