                                 SPONSOR
A PLANK – REFURBISHMENT OF THE BROW
We understand the decking on the jetty was put down about 25 years ago and Douglas Fir was used. This has served us well, but some sections are now in need of replacement.
After carrying out a survey the Brow (the section that connects the jetty to the pontoon) is in need of urgent repair and maintenance and we would like to carry out this work early next year
If you have been on Yarmouth Pier or Hythe Pier, you will notice that the planking is sponsored by individuals or businesses with names or messages engraved into the planks. Members may also have seen the “Plankers”
board at Gins which thanked those who sponsored a plank for the pontoon extension in 2012. We thought it would be a good idea to adopt that for Gins Brow and for members to have names or messages on individual planks which are likely to last for 25 years.
If you would like to sponsor a plank and have your name or message engraved on a stainless-steel plaque (see example) attached to the edge of the plank for posterity, then please contact Tina Daniel rcfacilities@rsyc.org.uk
To complete the project, we have 80 planks that need a sponsor. Each plank will cost £100 including the name or message and fitting.
Planks will be allocated on a first reserved basis so reserve your plank/ planks as soon as possible. For this project to go ahead we need to have all 80 planks sponsored by 31st December so please spread the word and encourage others to join in. If we have more than 80 sponsored, we will extend the project to the jetty!
