Colonel Jim Greenlee bids farewell as Commandant
By SSI Fiona McCallion
As the County stood down in December, there was one person who would not be returning after the Christmas/New Year break.
After years of service within the County, Colonel Jim Greenlee had reached the end of his tenure as Commandant and was moving on to pastures new.
Colonel Greenlee paid this meaningful tribute to all of the County's members:
"It is with heavy heart that I am
leaving you at the end of my time as Commandant. It has been an absolute privilege to lead and guide you through these years.
I would like to pay tribute to all of the Adult Volunteers who have given up their spare time to help improve the lives of our young people, and also to our cadets who have taken part wholeheartedly in training nights and activities. Their hard work and enthusiasm have gained local, national and interna-
tional recognition and have been simply outstanding. I am sure that you will continue to display these
excellent attributes to the new Commandant, Colonel Fred Owen. Welcome to the County, Colonel Owen, and I wish you the very best for the future."
Colonel Greenlee has been succeeded in the post of County Commandant by Colonel Fred Owen, who was previously a Deputy Commandant with Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF.
In a separate ceremony Colonel Chris Tearney DL, Colonel Cadets 4 Infantry Brigade presented Colonel Jim Greenlee a Black Rat statue on behalf of the Brigade to mark his 5 years as Commandant of the county, and to thank him for his contribution.
NEW YEAR ADDRESS TO THE COUNTY
By RSM Austin Butler
"The success and momentum achieved over the past twelve months will enable YNW ACF to “fight through” into the New Year, and to rise to any (and all) challenges.
As always, it is our Core Values - Courage, Discipline, Respect for Others, Integrity, Loyalty and Selfless Commitment - which will guide us, together with our pride in being members of YNW ACF and the wider Army family.
These are changing times, but with change comes opportunity - under Colonel Fred Owen’s command, there is a great deal to look forward to in 2022.
Work hard, work for each other, sort out your kit and let’s make it happen." Happy New Year and stay safe.
