 Visit to MBDA Missile Systems
By Lieutenant Scott Baker
On Friday 29th October 2021, 18 cadets and 4 adult volunteers attended an Engineering Experience Day at MBDA Missile Systems UK in Bolton.
The cadets took part in a number of activities throughout
the day, including an engineering design challenge, presenta- tions from different engineering staff, and a guided tour of the high-tech manufacturing facility. Unfortunately photography of the activities themselves was not permitted for security reasons.
Knaresborough Detachment Cadets Joshua Hubbuck and Magnus O'Sullivan enjoyed what was their first STEM event since joining the ACF earlier in the year. They said they had both really enjoyed this unique experience.
Cadet Hubbuck added, "I really enjoyed the whole experience, but my particular favourite was the missile assembly!"
The County STEM Officer, Lt Scott Baker, said: "The work performed at MBDA is a critical part of the wider UK defence picture. Allowing our cadets to see some of the activities that go on behind the scenes is a fantastic opportunity for them to increase their understanding of the armed forces and the future technological challenges that they face. Thank you to MBDA UK for the time and effort that was put into this event."
