Here we go again
A new year, and volunteers
from Leeds & District Allotment Gardeners are preparing to create yet another demonstration allotment for the Harrogate Spring Flower Show, which takes place from 23rd to 26th April. As the 70th Anniversary of VE Day
is the theme for the show this year the Federation has been invited to create an allotment garden of that time. However, it will be three times the size of the demonstration allotment gardens previously created, so it will be quite a challenge.
Researching plants that were grown during WW2 and the varieties grown for maximum yield has proved fascinating. Original artefacts have also been sourced and it has proved to be a very fruitful exercise, with many interesting items rooted out from volunteers’ lofts and sheds.
