Open Afternoon – C&DAHA HQ, Asquith Road
The Cheltenham & District Allotment Holders Association held an Open Afternoon at our Headquarters building as part of NAW. I include a short piece about it with a few photos.
The main room of our headquarters
at Asquith Road Allotments was very nicely set up by Colin and Rosemary Smith to receive visitors. Colin Smith had set up a lovely display of pictures and produce and the table to the left of it was set with a tempting selection of cakes provided by Rosemary Smith and Diana; plenty of chairs and stools were also set out so people could sit and chat if they wished to. The picture doesn’t show the full selection of cakes as more arrived not too long after this picture
was taken, courtesy of Kate, another of our committee members.
Visitors enjoyed tea, cake and lovely sunshine; the dog was ever hopeful that he might be given some cake – I think he was unlucky though!
More than 30 visitors, both members and Asquith Road allotment holders who were not necessarily members, visited our HQ. Much tea was drunk, and cake eaten. I can say that Rosemary’s chocolate cake and the lemon drizzle provided by Kate were both excellent. Many useful discussions were had about all topics allotment related,
and about how the Association and its members might more fully utilise our
HQ, leaving our secretary Layla with a phone full of notes for dissemination to the committee before our next meeting in a couple of weeks time.
