B COMPANY NEWLY PROMOTED SECOND LIEUTENANT!
By Sergeant Michael Townend
On Thursday 10th June 2021, the Officer Commanding B Company, Major Tim Troughton, had the pleasure of attending Goole Detachment and presenting the Detachment Commander, Second Lieutenant (2Lt) Elizabeth Drury, with her new badge of rank.
2Lt Drury attended the Cadet Force Commission- ing Board (CFCB) in May and after having to endure the anxious wait for the local post-person to arrive with a letter. Once the letter was opened, the relief of the news of her result... which was a well-deserved pass from the CFCB.
2Lt Drury said: “It is a huge sense of pride to achieve something that has been a personal goal
of mine for so long. This is a new level and a new journey that I can now make in my cadet career. I am really looking forward to starting the Initial Officer Training and hopefully inspiring others to go for their goals too.”
Maj Troughton said: “2Lt Drury is a committed member of the ACF; and a reliable and valued member of the B Company team. The vast experience and knowledge that has been gained during her 18 years ACF service will stand her in a good position to progress forward within the county. It has been a pleasure to work with 2Lt Drury as she has worked hard to travel along her commissioning journey and observing the development of her own leadership abilities.”

We here at B Company all wish 2Lt Drury the best of luck as she moves onto the Initial Officer Training programme.
For those that do not know about the IOT: The IOT is divided into two modules, you will begin with the Developmental Module (DM) where the focus is on key leadership models and their application to your role in the ACF. Once you have completed the DM you move to the Confirmatory Module where the centre of attention is on the application of leadership, allowing you to test and adjust your own skills in an inclusive and supportive environment.
The training takes place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, home of the Army Officer and widely regarded as one of the best leadership training establishments in the world.
SERGEANT INSTRUCTOR PRESENTED COMMISSIONER’S COMMENDATIONS FOR WORK WITH THE ST JOHN AMBULANCE!
Sergeant Instructor Eva Turner, Middleton Detachment Commander, was presented a Commissioner’s Commendations for exceptional service for her work with the St John Ambulance during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Whilst being a mother to 7 children, an Adult Volunteer as Detachment Commander at Middleton and volunteering on average 30-35 hours a week with St Johns Ambulance, SI Turner was just more than just busy.
While being a District Logistics Officer for Hull and having taken over as Interim District Logistics Lead, some of the roles that SI Turner carried out with St John Ambulance included, sorting out personal protective equipment, cleaning of the ambulance, moving of the ambulance, support and equipment to the frontline units and the day to day running.
SI Turner is an extraordinary volunteer with her hard work that she has done during COVID-19 at home, Army Cadet Force and with St John Ambulance is an example to follow.
SI Turner said: “I’m proud of the volunteer work I do; it has taught me so much and gives me a real sense of achievement.”
