via email or phone for specific support, or by popping in for a brew and to get an update on RAPTC business. We are here to support and share knowledge, so I encourage you to pop in if you are visiting Fox Lines. You’ll be very welcome and we may even stretch to one of our fresh bean-to-cup coffees... the ones that have kept productivity at its highest over the last couple of years!
We have had a hugely successful year in TDT and I put that down to great leadership and excellent teamwork. Each and every one of the team is committed to the cause, work tirelessly and pull together in the same direction to keep outputs high.
Don’t be fooled if this all seems like work, work, work, the team and I have had some great opportunities for sport, AT and extra- curricular activities; just recently members of the Headquarters were kindly invited to JSMTC in North Wales to conduct a short multi-activity package which included Mountain Biking and Scrambling. Some of my other highlights include a football Overseas Sports Visit (OSV) to Thailand, a Battlefield Study to Italy and numerous days/nights out with the team. I will now hand you over to the TDT legends who will provide an update on their own highlights from the year!
Another busy year in the HQ RAPTC TDT! On the work front the main focus has been on the Army Physical Training System (APTS) and getting the information available on the RAPTC MOSS site. Also, we are finally in the last stages of going to MODNET – which has been start-stop for most of the Year. The new SharePoint and Defence Connect sites have been established and work is on-going to transfer the information ready for when we go live. As well as our routine work of developing the Formal Training Statements (FTSs) for the new RAPTC Instructor’s course and the new AA PTI course, many other ‘projects’ have been keeping us occupied on a regular basis.
On the sporting front, this year has again been a
busy one! Basketball was a main feature of achievement for me, where I was selected to officiate at the inaugural Women’s Basketball League Final at the Barclaycard Arena Birmingham, which was televised; I bet you all saw me? My greatest passion after basketball is Golf, which I am not very good at, but the year was one that will remain in my memory. This year saw me
walking the course of the BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth, a fantastic experience inside the ropes alongside some of the world’s greatest golfers, unfortunately none of their skill rubbed off. Later in the year I was on the course for the Open at Royal Birkdale, an even better experience on a fantastic golf course walking inside the ropes offering the players a little bit of protection from the hungry autograph hunters along with a bit of ball spotting. That aside the most anticipated highlight to my golf year was the RAPTC OSV to Morocco. 10 Days, 6 great courses and 7 rounds of golf in beautiful warm sunny weather. Unfortunately it started on a bad note as I almost missed the transport to the airport through over sleeping, but I got there just in time. A great tour was had by all and I’m now looking forward to the next big
golfing adventure. The year finished off with another trip away to SHAPE to referee basketball at the Annual International Basketball Tournament between the nations of NATO. A superb tournament with great teams and this year saw me selected to crew chief for the Gold medal game.
