RAPTC RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB – APOSTLES
SSgt (SSI) M Brightey RAPTC
  2017 – 2018 Season
2017/18 has been a season of development and growth for the club. At the last AGM WO2 (QMSI)
Osborne discussed the theory of team ethos and identity of the club. Who are we? What does it mean to member of the RAPTC RFC? Why do we put our bodies on the line?
Like the All Blacks, Ba’Ba’s, Springboks and many
other successful rugby clubs it was proposed that we
adopt a Club name, a brand, a moniker. We needed
a name that we could relate and identify with, when
games are tough, when we are hurting and tired. We
would use this identity to improve morale, to improve commitment, to encourage pride in the club. It is
an honour and a privilege for any RAPTC member to have the opportunity to call themselves a member of the RAPTC RFC... an APOSTLE.
gender. All you need is commitment
and a desire to help the club in any
way. In return you will be part of a
club heading forward, striving for
success and a community that supports each other on the field, at work and personally. Not to mention the flashy blazers, team wear and awesome tours. Don’t just take my word for it...
Sgt (SI) Chris Mayhew (ITC)
Joining the Apostles has been enjoyable since the start. It allows new RAPTCI’s within the Corp the chance to get to know a variety of people from the beginning and building that rapport. The players are all welcoming, including the ones that do not actually get the chance to play as often as the hard hitters
do. As a Club we work hard for each other, this is on the field for 80 minutes (which can seem a lot longer on some days), but also when off the field with day-to-day business. Club social gatherings are always decent and we always seem to be the soul of the party wherever this may be. I have thoroughly enjoyed playing for the RAPTC Rugby Club over the past 2 years and continue to look forward to the future and what it brings (Rugby tour hopefully).

I’ve been asked to write this article by our club secretary SSgt (SSI) Martin-James (MJ) Brightey, as a longer serving team member and if I am honest I’m very grateful for the opportunity to say a few words about the club and my experiences.

I asked a few current players to articulate their experiences as an Apostle, these are from players at different stages of their playing/ coaching career. I want to show that ‘our club’, the Apostle’s is a club to be a part of, no matter what your ability, experience, age or
