the most challenging days was an ascent of the Troodos Mountain which saw the riders cover 84miles and climb 10,890ft; this concluded an overnight stay in Troodos Camp. As guests to the island, we decided to organise a handicapped cycling road race amongst the challenging terrain of Dhekelia Garrison. This was well supported across the Tri Service population; eventual winner was Capt (MAA) M Greenwood RAPTC. As you can imagine the training camp was challenging but very rewarding; all participants benefited from the specific training programme, excellent training facilities and warm weather environment. There is no doubt that this training camp contributed heavily towards us winning the Inter Corps Road Cycling Championships.
Female Road Cycling Team
Despite the sad departure of Capt (MAA) L Dunne RAPTC from the Army ranks, the ladies of the RAPTC had a terrific year, with WO2 (QMSI) C Mason RAPTC managing to surpass her results from the previous race season. She starting the season recovering from a grade 5 separation of her AC joint but quickly recovered and competed at the Tour of Good Hope (TGH) stage race in South Africa (SA); beating some very strong SA National riders and gaining podiums on three occasions over the five stages. Her performances were quickly noticed and she was selected to ride for the newly formed professional ladies race team, Storey Racing. Another upcoming talent from the ladies’ team who has excelled this season is WO2 (QMSI) R McKenzie RAPTC; representing the RAPTC in four Army Cycling Road Race Series 2017 events; each one resulted in a podium finish.
To finish the season off in style, the team produced another fine result at the Inter Corps Road Cycling Championships; WO2s’ Mason and McKenzie completing a 1st and 2nd place and Capt (MAA) L James RAPTC finishing in the top 10. These performances resulted in the ladies being crowned Inter Corps Road Cycling Champions 2017.
Army Road Cycling Race Teams 2017

Army Cycling Road Race Series
The Army Cycling Road Race Series (ACRRS) is the breeding group for success. Supported by Maj (MAA) I Phillips RAPTC and SSgt (SSI) I Tosh RAPTC. Each Corps is responsible for delivering one ACRRS event per season. The ACRRS is not only catered for the elite riders of the Army, but it has a three-tier league that has a keen policy to develop riders at grass root level. The A league is for the elite riders and is open to men and women riders who have been accredited and have earned 40 points or more during the ACRRS season. The B league is for men and women riders who have been accredited as capable to be B league riders and have earned 22 points or more. The C league is for male riders only who have limited racing experience and have not progressed through the Corps coaching accreditation. The ACRRS is highly competitive in all three leagues and is a great place to test your personal fitness, refine your bike handling skills, meet likeminded people; whilst having some serious fun on a sports afternoon!
