2017 has been a demanding and successful year for 4 Regiment RLC due to a higher volume of additional training in preparation for Readiness year, which saw the Regiment
deploy on Exercises in Canada, France and the UK. Whilst also supporting OP CABRIT, OP ORBITAL, OP BANKNOTE, OP TEMPERER, OP CATAN, OP SHADER, OP TORAL, OP RUMAN and OP ESCALIN.
On a sporting front the Regiment has had huge success and was placed 4th in the Army Sports Trophy Competition which saw the Regiment compete in an array of sporting activities, but a small

mention has to go to Sgt D Smee RLC who successfully defended the title of Army Champion in the Motorcar discipline and LCpl Spibey’s continued effort and support to the female Army Road Cycle Team.
The Regional Command UK South Cross Country League continues to go from strength to strength with an increase of 500 runners over an 8 race season from the previous season and a Facebook page. The role of secretary has been hugely rewarding but after two seasons I can safely say that it is time to pass it on.

Formed in 2005, HQ 101 Logistic Brigade is based in Wellington House, St Omer Barracks in Aldershot and is one of 4 Brigades which make up 3 UK Division.
It is the 1* HQ to 16 OPCOM Units. Both Regular and Reserve, these are a combination of RLC, REME and Medical Units based in UK and Germany. With troop numbers at approximately 8000, it is the largest Operational Brigade in the British Army.
Under Op Broadway this total has the potential to increase to 26 Units over the coming months.
Our Brigade Units span several Regional Points of Contact (RPOC) areas and are engaged in all parts of the FORM cycle simultaneously. In fact, for Operational reasons all 101 Log Bde units are engaged in a double FORM cycle.
Despite existing for 12 years, 101 Log Bde had never before enjoyed an RAPTC footprint within the HQ element. The SMI PD role was created in 2017 as an intervention to address the effect of MSKI and to improve deployability. It is an enduring Full Time Reserve Service (FTRS) (HC) post which has been equally challenging and rewarding.
It exists very much as Friendly Forces and has provided help, guidance and assistance to our RAPTCIs and Unit CoC alike. Over the initial 12 months PD Branch focussed heavily on the establishment of PD contacts at every Unit to enable effective communication links for PD traffic. In tandem with this, a great deal of emphasis has been placed on Bde integration with our 2* HQ and RAPTC RPOCs. This Course of Action (COA) has proved to be invaluable and has led to mentoring and troubleshooting

opportunities which to this point had not been possible. Notably, our Army Reserve Units, have been quick to tap into this resource, and this collaboration has seen a significant increase in 101 Log Bde Deployability.
The Bde Health and Deployability Committee has been streamlined and now incorporates PD initiatives and Best Practice. The majority of 101 Log Bde Units have now conducted an internal PD Climate
