70th anniversary of the cessation of the war in Korea
To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the cessation of the War in Korea, members and the British and Commonwealth troops were invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace. Durham Light Infantry veterans of the Korean Ware
in attendance were Brigadier Robert MacGregor-Oakford, George Hill, Stephen Hall and John Parker.
DLI ASSOCIATION INDOOR GAMES
The Association Games were held at the RBL Club, Fenchouses. There were the usual Darts, Dominoes and Whist competitions, and the Championship was won this year by Houghton-le-Spring Br with Sunderland Br runners-up, and the Wooden Spoon went to Gateshead & Newcastle Br.

THE GUYZANCE COMMEMORATION
Individuals from across man interested groups paraded to commemorate the tragic occasion on 17 Jan 1945 when eight young soldiers serving with the DLI and two from 10th Bn, The Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding Regt), were tragically swept to their deaths during a river crossing exercise on the River Coquet at Guyzance in Northumberland.
The DLI Assn carried out the 79th Anniversary of this tragedy, accompanied by a Bugler who had served with the Duke of Wellington’s Regt. This tragedy has been commemorated ever since Burnett Seyburn and Vera Vaggs witnessed the catastrophe. The names of those who lost their lives were read out with some of the family of Pte Peddelty, one of the DLI Trainees who had drowned, present for the first time.

CATTERICK PASS-OUT PARADE
Members of the DLI Assn Stockton Br attended the parade at the ITC in Catterick Garrison and afterwards met Riflemen who were joining 3 RIFLES. The ITC Team were given thanks by Stockton Br and congratulations were given to the young soldiers on their achievement that day and told to look forward to the next stage of their Army career.
