For many of us the thought of the festive season coming to an end is an unwelcome one at the best of times, however, for members of the Army School of Physical
Training the New Year could not have come quick enough.
The Army School of Physical Training Staff were welcomed back in January with a visit to Les Deux Alps, France, where they embarked on a T3 Winter Adventurous Training package. The ski touring package being delivered gave individuals a chance to build team cohesion and challenge themselves both mentally and physically in some very demanding winter conditions. Standards varied across the ASPT, ranging from veteran skiers to day one beginners, but regardless of individual talents many found themselves descending backwards or taking a fall into the deep snow.
As the week progressed all the groups were constantly put into ‘stretch’ as they moved onto the more demanding slopes. Not to mention some of the younger members of the team, getting their ambitions mixed up with their abilities, resulting in some spectacular dives into the snow, which was entertaining for both the locals and other members of the group. As the weather conditions improved during the week it provided the team with amazing views across the French Alps.
With the week coming to an end, members of the school staff proved that even the demanding slopes were no match for them and in true RAPTC spirit everyone challenged themselves which resulted in personnel being awarded Ski Foundation 1, Ski Foundation 2 and Ski
Foundation 3.

All in all, this was a fantastic week for both the experienced skiers and the novices. A special mention for SSgt (SSI) Lee Hathaway RAPTC who organised the trip from start to finish including the finer details which resulted in an extremely enjoyable and rewarding week.
