  26 REGIMENT ROYAL ARTILLERY
“Rebasing Move Mansergh Barracks Gutersloh British Forces Germany to Purvis Lines Larkhill”
SSgt (SSI) J W W Peters RAPTC
Imoved from 16 Air Assault Brigade Colchester in August 2017 to assume my new post at 26 Regiment Royal Artillery, taking over from SSgt (SSI) M Asher RAPTC.
I have been in post for nearly 3 years; it is unbelievable how time flies as I approach the end of my time at the regiment. I have not been disappointed with the challenges that the chain of command has set me to deliver; to name a few was the closure of Mansergh gymnasium, to plan and organise Brigade Commanders PT and deliver a robust 1 Arty Brigade Best Detachment Competition within Dartmoor Training Area.
26 Regiment has been extremely busy as they are set to rebase from Mansergh Barracks Gutersloh Germany (after 30 years) and move to their new location Purvis lines Larkhill, the home of the Artillery. During what has been and continue to be a very busy
Cmdr’s PT
training period, the regiment still promotes various sporting events; Inter Bty Boxing and Painter Sword Competition, including being Rear link support for 1 Arty Brigade Exercises and UKSB.
Severing at 26 Regiment as their SSI, I can honestly say that I am impressed with their willingness and motivation to adapt to different variables of Physical Training; mainly Project THOR and implanting the MATT 2 Soldier Condition Review testing.
The Regiment now looks forward to another hectic year within their FOE. I have really enjoyed my time conducting the role as there RAPTCI, they are a professional and enjoyable bunch who really embrace the attached arms at all levels. While I look forward to the new challenges and future prospects. My Family and I will leave 26 Regiment Royal Artillery with fond memories and a heavy heart.
Packed and ready for move
Each year the unit generates movement controllers and postal courier capability for operations (85 Deployments in 2019), Joint Air Mounting Centre (561 flights in 2019), enabling the
Defence Exercise Programme (310 Soldiers across 129 tasks in 2019). At the same time the unit places great emphasis on fully integrating with our partnered Reserve unit’s 152 ,162, 165, 167 Regiment RLC, to which a vast majority will be augmenting in this coming training year.
Shooting Competition where all winning teams where coached by SSgt (SSI) Hughes RAPTC which is unusual to see an RAPTCI running and delivering an array of numerous ranges and coaching, it just goes to show the diversity we employ in the Corps.
To summarise; an operationally tuned unit with the right attitude towards PD.
The new gymnasium being utilised for CO’s PT in the form of BAWF.

“There is more to the White Vest”
On top of the Operational Support the newly built station at South Cerney has been utilised at all levels from supporting the transiting troops flying out to numerous locations around the world, to Corps training camps and Army level sporting events.
2019 has seen the Regiment consistently punch above its weight in military skills and sporting competitions. Highlights include the Army Operational Shooting Competition; the Army 100 firer and the 104X Operational
SSgt Hughes on the ranges showing how it’s done; it isn’t just all about the white vest.
