The pace of life at the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) Catterick, never slows down. ITC is the largest training establishment within ARITC, within it, sits 3 Battalions, and School of Infantry Headquarters. With the ever-changing gym staff, there is a total of 6 RAPTCIs, over 30 AAPTIs and 2 SIO PTs. The introduction of PES and Womens’ Close Ground Combat (WCGC), has made it an extremely busy and challenging period. The careful integration of the new fitness tests into the PT programme have been vital to the continued success of the Combat Infantry Course (CIC).
Anderson Conditioning Centre. The Anderson Conditioning Centre was opened by the Support Battalion Commanding Officer in early November 2019 and has since hosted the UK North region BAWF event. The facility now allows the recruits on the CIC and ITC Permanent staff to have access to state-of-the-art S&C equipment, in support of the APTS.
Germany Boxing Team
ITC International Boxing – ABT v Germany. November 2019 saw the Army Boxing Team (ABT), take on boxers from Germany in a spectacular evening of boxing.
Soldier Development Wing – Halton. Over the past 12 months, the Soldier Development Wing Halton (SDW (H)) has gone through some major changes in manning, equipment and facilities. The arrival of WO2 (QMSI) Mills, from JSMTC, and Sgt (SI) Murgatroyd, straight from the RAPTC Instructor Course, kicked off the reinvigoration of SDW (H) with assistance from the ITC Gymnasium staff. With a steep upturn in recruiting, the Wing have managed to deliver courses week in week out, whilst ensuring the facilities continued to improve through endless hours of self-help.
Despite this busy schedule, the team have managed their time effectively and were able to enjoy some professional development, where WO2 Mills improved his Winter Climbing skills on Ex CANICE and Sgt Murgatroyd started his caving journey on the Cave Foundation course in Ripon.
