                                 ROTARY CLUB
Fun and Fundraising
July marks the start of a new Rotary year and, like all clubs across the country and beyond, our club will have a new President. Club members therefore want to thank Bob Davey for his leadership of the club during his time in office. At the same time we want to wish our new President, Mike Turner, a very successful year. Mike is already lining up events
and activities that will be both enjoyable, help others, and raise money for good causes.
Regular readers will know that our club is one of several that help with Sailability at Grafham Water. We were due to do a session at the end of June but members were also asked to help
out with an additional session at the start of
the month and it proved to be a rewarding but strenuous day. Setting the boats off into a strong wind that was blowing the boats towards the
launching site, and retrieving them with their sailors as they came back to land, proved to be something of
a challenge. Whilst the task was challenging there is no doubt that members found their voluntary work to be enjoyable and rewarding.
Perhaps you saw some of our club members at the Charter Fair. This is just one of the events that we use to
raise money for the causes that we support. We are actively seeking new members who want to be active in making a difference in their own community and beyond. If you would like to know more, then please get in touch.
Volunteering at Scouts isn’t just about changing young people’s lives.
It’s about doing something that’s #GoodForYou too.
Volunteering is good for boosting your wellbeing, developing CV-friendly skills, making friends and build- ing memories.
We have roles to fit every life-style and skillset with
all the relevant training provided. We don’t just need volunteers to work alongside our young people but we also need volunteers behind the scenes to help keep our group running!
We hope to hear from you soon!
