already familiarised with army doctrine and its ways of doing things. I was mainly engaged in fieldcraft lessons, combat estimate teaching and marking, evaluation reports, and field exercise planning. On RMAS Commandant Watch, I had the opportunity as an instructor to lead the last exercise platoon attacks, which were followed by a dip in the Wish Stream at the end. Worth to mention, OCdts under my supervision won the competition. Their fighting spirit and effort made me proud.
While at RMAS, I had access to all material and information I needed; on how Commissioning Course Short works, from army doctrine, unit training cells, course planning, CCS chief of instructors, platoon commanders, how lessons are linked to module objectives, field exercises management and so on. I used to work with other armies too, but the RMAS professionalism and effort to shape competent young officers is outstanding. In terms of the RMAS heartbeat, I learnt a lot from the Louts’ community, during brews, several BBQs, and Slim Mess backyard gatherings.
Luckily, I made lots of friends. Some of them I will be hosting in Kosovo during the winter, travelling across the country, and going skiing. During my time in the UK, we managed to properly use our free weekends to visit Edinburgh, the Platinum
Jubilee parade in London, attend an Ed Sheeran concert, the Wimbledon Championships, and several BBQs.
It has been an honour and privilege to serve and lead alongside Kosovo’s lifelong ally. I con- sider that the Defence Engagement programme has served its purpose in the best way possi- ble. These types of engagements make the two armies stronger and more innovative by sharing different perspectives and best practices.
