                                   CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
As we come out of Christmas and into
the New Year, we expect to see some frosty and icy mornings and perhaps a sprinkling of snow. Please take care on the roads and footpaths when conditions are icy and please use the grit bins around the town when necessary. If any bins are empty, please check the lid to see who is responsible, those that say Buildbase are property of the Town Council and we
can arrange for a refill if needed, if they say East Northants or North Northants these belong to the Unitary Council and need reporting on fix my street: https:// fixmystreet.northamptonshire.gov.uk/
The Christmas Festival returned in full swing last year. I was helped by family
and friends to provide refreshments and mulled wine in the Plaza along with a bottle tombola in the High Street to support my chosen charity, The Haemophilia Society.
I am thrilled to say we raised an amazing £624.10. Further funds were raised at the annual Pantomime in the Plaza (although this goes to print before we’ve even enjoyed the panto so I can’t report on it. Oh yes it does!) So far with the support of residents, councillors and staff in the office we have raised just over £6000. Thank you to you all.
I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year – so what has 2023 got in store for you?
With my Mayor’s hat on and raising funds for my chosen charity we have our ever- popular Quiz ‘n’ Chips. Tickets are selling fast and normally sell out quickly, so don’t delay in securing yours. My next charity event is an Abba tribute night, set to be a fantastic evening of song and dance by the spectacular Sensation Abba. The date is fixed for Saturday 29th April and tickets are
now on sale from the Office. We will have BurgerBuzz who attended the Christmas Festival on site allowing guests to purchase food refreshments on the night. We have opted for this set up to allow residents to
be able to manage their budget more easily with the ongoing cost of living crisis. For those struggling during this time please remember our local warm bank facilities provided in the town, for more details please contact the office.
For those who need further help and support North Northamptonshire Council have a website here: www.northnorthants. gov.uk/cost-living. We have our own Thrapston Foodbank, contact details: 07907 343373, email: thrapstonfoodbank@ gmail.com, www.thrapstonfoodbank. eastnorthants.co.uk
Kind regards,
Councillor Craig Wheeler Thrapston Chairman and Mayor
