                                 HELPING HANDS
Volunteer Action
Volunteer Action is a local charity supporting local residents who may be elderly, unwell, disadvantaged or have disabilities. By providing services to these people, our aim is to maintain independence and improve the quality of their lives.
The volunteer action car scheme is run by volunteers within the community of Oundle, Thrapston and the surrounding 48 villages – we provide a driving service for medical trips to the elderly or vulnerable – in addition to a newly launch befriending scheme that is designed to help combat loneliness.
Volunteer Action is looking for volunteers and donation support alike across the geographical areas it covers – are you looking to keep your skills up on the computer or enjoy speaking with people on the phone and want to help support the local community? – then we would be delighted to hear from you to
join our team of office volunteers. In particular we are looking for a volunteer to help support our growing Befriending service as we launch a monthly get together with a wide variety of talks, games and more. Keep an eye on our website for more information.
Funding is becoming less available for the third sector and without a public transport link for our community – we are seeing a rise in the amount of requests for transport to hospitals, doctors or dentists. If you feel you could help by donating a regular amount of £2 per month – please contact VA’ Manager Rachel Dixon on admin@volunteeractionoundle.org.uk.
We are always looking for support within the local area – do give our offices a call.
