8 HOUSE REPORT
Again, our Staff stepped up to deal with
the additional disruption of functioning without a serviceable Brow, which stopped the Pontoon being “walk-ashore”. I would like to record our thanks to the Chichester family for allowing us to use their Jetty for many days to help us through.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Social events and talks for Members have continued, including a memorable D-Day Lunch and Classic Car Rally. The Summer Party to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of RSYC at Gins, was finally held in early September. A 60’s themed party – a spectacular
grill from Albin the Chef, and dancing
and music from the era. The evening raised nearly £2,000 for the RSYC Trust through an Auction – with the star lot being a private supper to be cooked by Albin with matched wines selected and presented by Stuart.
Hopefully we can shortly start to look forward and resume normal operations in a fully restored and refurbished facility.
A word about our chef. Albin joined us in February and has rapidly established himself as one of the finest chefs in the area. His range of dishes and creativity are earning Gins an excellent reputation. We are lucky to have him with us.
So, in summary, it has been a challenging Summer at Gins but, with the help of our diligent and friendly team, we have got through it, and visitors and Members alike have been able to enjoy excellent hospitality and camaraderie in a beautiful setting, with disruption kept to a minimum. We look to the future with confidence.
