Sussex DA
Sussex DA were pleased to welcome Sherrie Plumb to our meeting in March, who gave an illustrated talk on “A Year in Our Garden”. A record number of members and visitors attended the meeting and asked a number of excellent questions to Sherrie.
For the third year running, the Sussex
DA were again at the Spring Show at the Ardingly South of England Showground on the 5th and 6th May promoting the NVS and offering lots of advice on all things vegetable. We had a good cross section of different plants for sale, including 8 different Varieties of tomatoes, 4 varieties of onions and a several Varieties of French beans and runner beans. All in all, there were over 500 plants for sale, and thanks must go to Paul Dalby, Gordon Cooper and Brian Jeffries who
grew them. As in previous years, there was a Garden Theatre stage where Paul sat as part of a “panel of experts” taking questions from the assembled audience. Thanks,
must go to the various Sussex members who manned the stand over the 2 days and provided assistance in setting it all up on the Friday and Saturday.
Having grown the plants for the Spring Show, our members are now preparing for the South of England Show on the 6th, 7th and 8th June, where our theme this year will be Allotment Gardening.
Our next outing will be to West Dean Gardens in West Sussex on Wednesday, 17th July, where all members will be welcome. More information will be provided

Championships are being held on 30th & 31st July and 1st August at the New Forest Show, Hampshire and the Sussex DA will be providing the display
trug for the Southern Branch entry into the trug class.
Our own Mini Show will take place on Wednesday,11th September at the Ashurst Village Hall, schedules available from Marion as usual.
Our final foray to Ardingly will be for
the Autumn Show and Game Fair on 5th
& 6th October at the South of England Showground where we will again be presenting an NVS Promotional Stand and display. Lots of help will be required to man the stand and to provide produce for sale.
