probably took as much money as previous sales but in a shorter time. Many thanks to everyone who helped at our sale and to those who contributed and purchased plants.
I think we all took some plants back home that hadn’t sold, however most were going to be donated to other plant sales, so would not be wasted. I promised my surplus plants to Keith Hine for Surrey DA sales, so will take a carload to deliver to him after work. It’s great to share! I expect my work colleagues will be bemused to see a Mazda 3 mobile greenhouse in the car park.
By the time this issue of SV is printed we will have welcomed Mick Poultney in June to talk on “No Dig Gardening”. It is a popular topic and will no doubt be a full house.
Good luck to all those entering The Nationals and thank you in advance for supporting the show.
Next meetings:
30-31 July & 1 Aug – NVS National Championships
8 Sept – Hants DA Annual Show and Potato Competition 8 Oct – ‘Daffodils’ by Gwyn Davies

Surrey DA have had a busy summer so far and the talks have been varied and enjoyable, in March Barry Newman gave an interesting talk on Growing in Containers and April's talk was by Ian Clemens on the development of new seed varieties we can look out for.
In May Darren Everest gave an insight into the world of growing Dahlias and his displays of dahlias ad sweet peas are exceptional. We are hoping for increased entries for our Mini Show being held at the end of August and yellow salad tomato plants have been given to members to grow on and exhibit the fruit in the Chairman’s Challenge class.

based cakes, these always create a lot of interest & sales of the NVS Vegetable Cook book increase after tasting samples of cakes.
Over the weekend 7th – 8th September following the National Dahlia Show we will be part of the RHS Growing Together Flower & Produce Competition, there should be a wide & varied range of displays from many different societies & groups.
The National Show is fast approaching and members are anxiously hoping that the timing of their exhibits will give them a chance of a card in the classes they have entered. Best of luck to all who have entered the National Championships being held as part of the New Forest Show on July 30th – August 1st at the Brockenhurst Show Ground.

The Family Gardening Festival followed from Thursday 30th - Sunday 2nd June, we provided a seed planting activity for the children & also sold plants & NVS items.
On the weekend of Saturday 15th – Sunday 16th June we had
a stand at the Specialist Plant Show – Societies Weekend, again
