Page 56 - Shalom: The Peace That Comes From Being Whole
P. 56
Phil. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things
are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatso-
ever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things
are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if
there be any praise, think on these things.
Here are the rules: You have moves. God has
a move. God will never move out of turn, but
He will never fail to move when it is His turn.
Verse 6 is your move.
Verse 7 is God’s move.
Verse 8 is your move again. (If you don’t
take this move you cannot keep what God
gave in His move.)
You must make the first move (v. 6) before
God can take His move (v. 7).
The Amplified Bible Classic Edition trans-
lation (AMPC) of our first move makes the
meaning very plain.
Phil. 4:6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about
anything, but in every circumstance and in
everything, by prayer and petition (definite
requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make
your wants known to God.
We can do this. God would never ask us to
do something we can’t do. We must do it for
peace of mind. A mind that is whole.
The following promise of peace of mind is
wonderfully expressed in the Hebrew.
