WHAT
The Alameda Corridor-East Construction Authority (ACE) has begun construction on the Fullerton Road Grade
Separation Project, immediately north of State Route 60 in the City of Industry and unincorporated community of
Rowland Heights. The project will consist of a six-lane roadway underpass for vehicular traffic, four-track railroad
bridge, and a roadway bridge for Railroad Street spanning Fullerton Road. Upon completion, crossing congestion,
potential collisions with trains and noise from train horns will be eliminated. The next phase of work requires the full
closure of Fullerton Rd. between Railroad St. and Rowland St./San Jose Ave. for utility relocation work and to build the
underpass and bridges (see map above).
WHEN
Major construction will commence on Monday, August 28, 2017 with the closure of Fullerton Rd. between Railroad
St. and Rowland St./San Jose Ave. to through traffic for 36 months. Most work will take place on weekdays between 7
a.m. and 4 p.m. Weekend and night work will be performed only when necessary. Completion of construction is
anticipated in Summer 2020.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Northbound and southbound traffic lanes on Fullerton Rd. between Railroad St. and Rowland St./San Jose Ave. will be
closed to through traffic. Access to local businesses on Fullerton Rd. will be maintained, from Rowland St./
San Jose Ave. Motorists are encouraged to use Azusa Ave. and Nogales St. as major north-south detour routes. Gale
Ave., Rowland St. and San Jose Ave. remain open for east-west travel. Portions of the adjacent sidewalks will also be
closed with pedestrian detours provided. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to obey posted signs and exercise caution
while in the vicinity of the construction activities.
