I am in the middle of a book called ‘Why Women read fiction’, which some of you might like. It’s by a woman called Helen Taylor, whom I know through the Fowey Literary festival and I completed a questionnaire for her on my reading, past and present. So did many others and the book was partly based on this material. One of the chapters refers to a blog, ‘dovegreyreader’. I had never heard of her before, but Helen Taylor included a quote from her, which rather resonated with what we have been doing. Dovegreyreader writes
‘And what about childhood friends...? How did we find them and keep them...and how and why did we lose them? Have you kept in touch with yours...? ‘
I’m so glad we have.

Hi Glenda - I loved your poem. Porthmadog brought back memories as my eldest brother has volunteered on the Festiniog Railway for sixty years.
Thank you very much for the book, which I was pleased to be able to download. I have not had a chance to read it yet, but very much looking forward to doing so!

Hi Glenda and Val this is just to say a big thank you for all your hard work re OG book and to send a bit of info I have gleaned which may or may not be of any use but thought I would pass it on anyway....
Speaking recently to a friend who has published a couple of small books, he recommends looking at the website of Book Printing UK. A Peterborough company which is reasonable in price for printing and binding books and documents. The website will take you through a series of options as to how elaborate you require your publication to be, giving a price without any commitment. Glenda, you may already have all this type of info and not need it at all but my tuppence-worth which could be helpful.

Hi everyone and thank you for your kind comments about The Book. There have been a number of very helpful responses which I thought I should share with you.
First of all, however, we have now moved to Version 3 in which I have:
• Corrected all the issues which you have sent to me: but please keep these coming just as you see them. The more correct this version is the less there will be for Jenny to do and, in any case, there are some errors which are to do with memory rather than grammar, punctuation et cetera. As you read through please just bang anything you
notice to me.
• Added all the additional emails which I had stored awaiting Version 2 from Val.
• Most importantly, taken out some photographs which Val thought were irrelevant,
added in at least one biography, removed all the non-breaking spaces (yes it took me half a day to find out what these were and how to remove them!), sorted out the page numbers and corrected a couple of errors. The book now runs to 105 pages.
• This means that Version 3 has different page numbers from the version you have. So when you send me any additional material, amendments and corrections et cetera could you please quote the date and time so that I can find them!
