The following amendments would implement Recommendation #3a to standardize $50 dues and #6 to allow for monthly dues:
ARTICLE X. Section 1. Annual Dues. Except as to life membership contracts heretofore issued or undertaken by the association, tThe annual dues required to be paid by members of this association shall be $50.00 beginning September 1, 2019. $40.00 for the 1983 membership year and $45.00 effective with the 1984 membership year; provided, however, that the board of directors shall have the authority to adopt and implement a plan under which dues from new members paid after the beginning of each membership year, including the portion thereof allocated to the respective county Farm Bureaus, shall be reduced on a pro-rata basis. Alternatively, a member may pay their dues on a more frequent basis, including monthly, quarterly, and semi-annually. These options may include terms and procedures established by the Association, including dues amounts that will, in the aggregate, exceed the $50 annual dues, as necessary. No member shall be compelled to pay greater than $50 per year if the member chooses to pay on an annual basis. The board of directors shall also have the authority to adopt and implement a plan under which members shall have the option to make multi-year dues pre-payments at a reduced rate per year. All such dues shall include the annual dues of the American Farm Bureau Federation and an annual subscription to the Michigan Farm Bureau general membership publication, and shall be distributed between this association and the respective county Farm Bureaus as determined by the board of directors. No additional local dues may be assessed by any county Farm Bureau. provided, however, that the $5.00 increase effective with the 1984 membership year shall be divided 1/5 to the county Farm Bureaus and 4/5 to Michigan Farm Bureau, with the American Farm Bureau Federation dues to be paid out of the Michigan Farm Bureau portion. Nothing herein contained shall prevent any county Farm Bureau from voting and pro-rating, if desired, additional local dues, not to exceed $5.00 per member, to be used for local purposes only.
