Farm work isn’t for everybody, but if you want an adventure that will give you hands-on
experience on an organic farm, you should check out World Wide Opportunities on
Organic Farms (WWOOP). This organization connects volunteers with farmers who offer
accommodations, food, and learning opportunities in exchange for work. Read some comments
                        from WWOOFers on their experiences:

“Last summer, I helped a Greek family start an olive orchard. We spent hours every day
digging stones out of a field to prepare it for planting. It was extremely hard work, and my
muscles were sore by the end of the day. I really should have gotten into better shape before
my trip. But I learned a lot about farming, and I picked up a little Greek, too.”—Angie, Scotland
                        WwWOOFer in Argentina

“Tm a city kid from Tokyo, so I didn’t know what to do on a small Argentinian farm. On my
first day I pulled up a whole row of carrot seedlings! because I thought they were weeds.” My
hosts were nice about it, but I know they weren't happy. I should have asked more questions
                        before I got started.’—Michio, Japan

                        WwWOOFer in Ireland
“T should have found out more about the accommodations before arriving. I had a tiny
room and no electricity. I got used to it after a while, but it wasn’t easy. WWOOF hosts will
rarely be able to offer you the comforts of home; if you're not willing to rough it,? then you
ought to look into other travel options.’—Marie, Canada
