13. EDIT. Read the conversation. Find and correct five more errors with conditionals and wish.
would you
A: Ifsomeone on the street offered you money, you4vould take it?
B: No, I don't.
A: Why not? I often wish a stranger would give me money.
B: I guess I don’t trust strangers. If a stranger tries to give me money, I'd think it was a trick.
Nobody just gives money away without a reason.
A: What would you do if money would fall out of a window?
B: That would never happen either.
A: I guess youre right. I wish things like that happen, but they never do.
B: I know. I wish making money is that easy, but it’s not.
14 READ & LISTEN.
Read the text about sharing money. If a friend had to share $100 with you, how much do you
think you would probably get?
What would you do?
What would you do if a stranger on the street offered you some money to share with a
friend? Would you accept it? Would you give your friend half the money even if you wanted
to keep more? Do you think your friend would accept less than half?
According to some economists, if people were being completely rational, they would offer
as little money as possible. Researchers wanted to test that idea, so they did an experiment.
Surprisingly, they found that when most people were given money to share, they offered their
partners between 40 and 50 percent of it. Other studies showed that when people offered their
partners less than 30 percent, their partners refused to take it. The results of the experiment
clearly show that fairness plays an important role in people’s decisions about sharing.
B_ Listen to the conversation. Do Mike and Jack get to keep the money?
cD4-07
C Listen again. Write the missing words that you hear.
cD4-07
Jack: Only five? Why not ten, Mike? That’s what I (1) you if I
(2) the money with you.
Mike: = That’s crazy. The woman gave me the money, not you. If I
(3) in your shoes, I (4)
happy with five dollars.
Jack: No, you (5) . You (6)
upset if I (7) it in half.
Mike: I wish you (8) arguing with me.
