        Q. Being a founding father of a club that has now completed
20 successful years is an accomplishment of which you must
be proud. Now, you're the Treasurer. How did that come
        about?

        A. The club's treasurer was in the hospital just as car
Practice what you preach- JD's daily driver is a
show season was ramping up. I took over , temporarily,
                                                                       2002 Jaguar Super V8 saloon.

        Q. Do you belong to any other car clubs?

        A. I only belong to one other car club, the UK based
        Rolls-Royce Owners' Club. I've been a member for 36
years. It's an incredible wealth of information about these
        cars.
        Q. It sounds as if your shop is a happening place. If someone
wanted to get on your schedule, what's the average time that
elapses? And, in the confidence building category, do you
make exceptions for emergencies, like a car that just stops
        running?
        A. Routine work or maintenance can be 6-12 months. If
you are regularly using your car and experience an FTP we
All British cars small and great, something large

top priority and it's usually something simple.

        Q. I imagine getting away from the shop isn't easy. Do you
have a dream trip tee'd up?

        A. Cindy and I are taking a three week trip to England this
September to include the Goodwood Rrevival, the Beaulieu
Auto Jumble, a tour of the Morgan factory and more.
        Q. That sounds exciting but a bit of a bus man's holiday. Can
we count on you to take some photos and write about your
experiences for an issue of Motoring in October?
While cautioning against projects, JD couldn't
        A. Sure!
resist restoring his own adorable 1976 Mini.
        Q. When you're not in the garage do you have hobbies that
        aren't involved with cars?

        A. I play pinball and I love music. I grew up playing the
drums and the trombone, but these days I only listen.
Flipping houses used to be a hobby , when you could still
get good deals, back before there were TV shows about it.
        Q. And now we're at the end. Is there anything "knees-up"
about you that would surprise people if they knew it?

        A. I'm a huge fan of roller coasters.
The founding father and mother , JD and Cindy
