P. 7

In this publication we provide a high level ‘behind the scenes’ explanation of the infrastructure programme and introduce you to some of the key people - our programme directors, project managers, chief education specialists, and works inspectors - responsible for driving this process.
We also provide information on the infrastructure projects derived from the Infrastructure Programme Management Plan (IPMP) which outlines how the infrastructure programme is to be executed, monitored and controlled. Infrastructure Programme Implementation Plans (IPIPs) are developed by implementing partners in response to the sub-programmes assigned to them and this publication further outlines which projects have been allocated to our implementing agents.
The infrastructure programme is planned and implemented through a structured process, known as the Infrastructure Delivery Management System (IDMS) which utilises several stages (also known as gates) to measure compliance to best practices in the infrastructure value chain.
In this publication we provide information on projects that are in: - Stage 5 (Design development)
- Stage 6 (Detail design); and
- Stage 7 (Works)
Stage 7 projects are those that are currently being rolled out and a list of these projects for each of the 12 education districts is included.
There are a number of projects in stages 5 and 6, which have been planned, however, these have been put on hold due to a lack of funds. We have also included this list and all stakeholders will be kept informed as soon as the status of these projects change.
To facilitate access to information, we have included the contact details of the DoE’s key infrastructure personnel so that any matters relating to current projects can be directed to them.
As a valued stakeholder in the education sector, we trust that you will nd this publication informative. You can look forward to similar publications on the infrastructure programme in our quest to improve communication with you.
We are committed to making our country’s future work better through the provision of quality infrastructure in the Eastern Cape.
