                     Where did all those years so quickly go?


             All my life I’ve known you                              Trip to Europe in a whirl who knows where
                                                                     Work for Nestlé, cropped your hair
             When we met I was one or two                            To visit your fi rst apartment, I came
             Pictures show us on the farm                            “Stouffers uses real cheese”, you proclaim
             Too young to recall but we had charm                    “Häagen-Dazs it needs to breathe”, you
                                                                     declare
             You playing the accordion, ringlets in your hair        Christmas parties and Stouffers coupons
             Room full of dolls, with eyes that stare                everywhere
             Jumping on the bed - oops it broke, stories of
             the day                                                 Watching baseball with a marketer’s spin
             Your Mom making sure we ate okay                        Let’s see the ads and yes Jays win
                                                                     Celebrating on your wedding day
             You had long hair, but when Hairdresser we              Then you lived not far away
             would play
             I was the model, well it usually turned out okay        Moving up the ladder and around the world
             We are cousins, we’d incorrectly reply with glee        Soon enough a baby girl
             But you became more like a big sister to me             Living in Ohio, then in York
                                                                     Then back to Toronto you would work
             Off to high school, in royal blue, you led the          So much to do I recall

             Athlete, scholar, president, come what may
             Our mothers talking on the phone                        Time is short they say
             Your mom always worried until you came home             Family and friends passed away
             To University at Queens with spirited rowdies           Life begins and who knows when it will end
             I came to see and I remember hot toddies                But I am happy to have had such a friend
