PER ARDUA AD ASTRA (THROUGH ADVERSITY TO THE STARS)

came in here, confused and lonely, not knowing what to expect
in a new environment contrary to the one I was used to. Luckily, I
Iadapted quickly, thanks to some of my friends; Somto, Ese,
Naza, Chisom and others who made me feel comfortable.

The truth about life is that it's never
steady and Grundtvig taught me that.
My challenges dragged me through a This citadel of
rough lane but with time, I was able to learning brought
overcome them. My friends me out from my
supported me whenever I stumbled shell of ignorance,
and my teachers served as inspiration widened my
to me when the going seemed beyond horizon, as well as
                                            my reach. exhumed the
                                                                                     exuberant qualities
This citadel of learning brought me in me. My Yin and
out from my shell of ignorance, Yang experiences
widened my horizon, as well as went a long way in
exhumed the exuberant qualities in my journey of
me. My Yin and Yang experiences self-discovery.
went a long way in my journey of
                                            self-discovery. Honestly, it wouldn't
have been possible without the Almighty God who helped me. Big
shout out to my lovely parents; Mr. Vincent & Mrs. Ogechukwu Dim
who strove day and night to give me the best.

My patchwork of success wouldn't be complete without my friends whose admirable presence,
knowledge, hardwork and faith served an instant example for me; Keme, Bill, Ursy, John, Ciddy, Kachi,
Nnamdi, Vincent, Jason, Nana, Sharon, Blessing (Twinnie!), Chibuike, Temi and many others. I hope
others in the world would see the potentials I saw in you wherever you go next.

Behind every great student are greater teachers. Would I have gone this far without the erudite
professors in G.I.S.S? They gave me advice when I needed it, told me “You can and You will”, made me
believe that the sky is my starting point and not my limit, most importantly, to latch on tightly to this
brilliant opportunity. Thank you all and may God bless you as you continue to change lives of students in
           this great institution.

7 Jesuit once taught me a song: “Father, may all those who came behind us find us faithful. May the five
of our devotion light their way. May the footsteps that we leave lead them to believe that the lives we live
inspire them to obey. Father, may all those who came behind us find us faithful.”There are so many
things I’m going to miss here. I hope you all learn from the mistakes I made. Darling Sochi, burn the
Dim legacy into the records of this school and set the pace for many to follow.

Set of 2019, you guys are not the best, you are better in fact! We had times we were more divided than
ever and times that we seemed joined together at the hip. To this wonderful set, thanks for being there
through thick and thin, and making water seem thicker than blood.

Finally, it is with a heavy heart and eyes filled with tears that I bid farewell to G.I.S.S; I have been duly
prepared to face the harsh world. “PER ARDUA AD ASTRA” or in English, “Through Adversity To
The Stars”. We metamorphosed into butterflies, ready to take on the world.
