BENEFITS OF LEARNING CHESS FOR CHILDREN
IT RAISES A CHILD'S IQ
Chess is a game of mental ability and it helps in building and raising children's IQ.
IT HELPS PREVENT ALHZIERMERS
The brain works like a muscle, it needs exercise to be healthy and ward off injury. Studies have shown that
people that engage in brain-stretching activities like chess are less likely to develop dementia.
IT EXERCISES BOTH SIDES OF THE BRAIN
Chess is the only sport that has been found to make use of both parts of the brain at the same time. A
German study showed that chess players use both sides of their brains in solving most problems that non-
players cannot solve.
IT IMPROVES CREATIVITY
The right side of the brain is responsible for creativity. Chess specifically increases originality. A study in
England showed that kids that play chess before age 10 are more creative than their counterparts that do not
play chess.
IT IMPROVES MEMORY
Being a good chess player means remembering past games and positions. A study in Pennsylvania of sixth to
ten graders showed that children who were given regular opportunity to play chess improved their grades,
organizational skills and showed better problem solving ability.
IT GROWS DENDRITES
Dendrites are the tree-like branches that conduct signals from other neural cells into the neurons (like antennas
picking up signals from brain cells). Learning a new skill like chess-playing causes dendrites to grow.
IT TEACHES PLANNING AND FORESIGHT
Strategy games like chess can promote early development of the brain and help them make better decisions in life.
Finally, Chess has no gender preference
