Albuquerque Museum Exhibitions
Pesos and Patriots Exhibit open through May 19, 2019
Coming to Albuquerque Museum January 2019, "Pesos and Patriots: New Mexico’s Role in the American War of
Independence" tells the story of Albuquerque families who supported the American cause in the fight for independence.
As loyal citizens to the crown of Spain, residents of New Mexico donated to
the American cause in the fight for freedom from the British. Spain provided
supplies, arms, and other aid needed to fight the British, which played a key
role in battles like the one fought at Pensacola.
Of additional interest especially to Hispanic New Mexicans is the Pesos &
Patriots Exhibit which is on Hispanics who supported the War of
Independence in 1776. There are thousands of New Mexicans who are
descendants of those who supported the cause and are therefore eligible to
join the Daughters of the American Revolution. The exhibition is curated by
the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Charles
Dibrell Chapter. NOTE: Anyone related to Jose Maria De La Merced Baca
(just about half of New Mexico) is eligible to join the DAR. the exhibit runs
through May 19, 2019. Don't miss it! http://www.cabq.gov/…/albuqu…/
