In the first printing, the 2d was printed in sheets of 84 Design: 2 1 /2p+ 1 /2p, Cross of Lorraine. (7x12), and the other four values were printed together in sheets of 96 (8x12), with each row 1954, Apr. 1 Perf. 11x11 /2 consisting of three 1p, one 1 /2p, one 4p and 1 three 3p values. Setenant multiples exist. B3 SP3 1 1 /2p + 1 /2p green & brn .25 .25 Sheets were not perforated on the margins, so B4 SP3 2 1 /2p + 1 /2p black & org .30 .30 that marginal stamps were not perforated on the outer edge. Examples from the first print- Wmk. 273 — Wmk. 363 — Tree ing are 25mm wide (including margins). In the second printing, the 1 /2p, 1p and 2p Roses Stump were printed in separate sheets of 84 (7x12). The clich´es were set a little closer, so that examples of this printing are 23mm wide. Syncopated Perforations Type A (1st stamp #1065): On one longer Nos. 269 and 272 side, groups of five holes are separated by an Surcharged oval hole equal in width to eight holes. Type B (1st stamp, #1142): On the top groups of 3 holes at left and right and a middle group of 4 holes separated by rectangular per- forations equal in width to 4 holes.
