Great Britain: 1937 Royal Coronation/Patron gilded bronze token of the Norwood Jewish Orphanage; not maker-marked; size: 28mm; weight: 9.9g. Obv: the structure w/leg: "The Jewish
Orphanage Norwood | Patron H.M. King George VI". Rev: twin left-facing busts of newly coronated King & Queen; leg: "Coronation George VI & Elizabeth ? May 12th 1937". In VF, but lack of detail in
places also the result of a filled die; retains much original luster. The Orphanage originated as a charity, founded in 1785 in London by Abraham and Benjamin Goldsmid; in 1815, following their deaths,
Prince Augustus Frederick, the Duke of Sussex (Queen Victoria?s uncle), became the Hospital?s first royal patron. The actual home for Jewish children, Norwood Hall of West Norwood, opened in 1863
and closed in 1961.

of the event; size: 22.75 x 33.5mm; weight: 1.55g. The exhibition was a world-fair held between 22 Sept. and 14 Oct., focusing on reclamation and population
of the [Negev] desert; 13 foreign countries participated and 600,000 people attended.
