LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP AWARD
Lifetime Membership will be awarded to a dedicated, long- standing member of CSHT who has consistently and significantly contributed to the development of hand therapy science and practice in Canada. Any CSHT member in good standing may nominate ONE eligible CSHT member for the award. Self- nominations are not permitted. Nominations close April 1st. Eligible nominees must be a current year CSHT member in good standing. The winner is selected by majority vote of the current Executive Board and announced at the Annual General Meeting of the Society. Non-Insured Health Benefits Program (NIHB) /First Nations and Inuit Health Branch
Mr. Franz Hubert Sully, a policy advisor with the Non- insured Health Benefits Program /First Nations and Inuit Branch approached me requesting information on the scope of practice of Occupational Therapists and Certified Hand Therapists regarding our ability to dispense U.E orthoses, as well as any position papers related to this topic. He also requested information on the qualifications required to become a certified a hand therapist.
I provided him with the information and he contacted me again to report that the NIHB Program is currently exploring the addition of certified hand therapists as providers of upper extremities orthoses. To perform his
