The waters around the Isle of Canna are designated as a Marine Protected
Area. They are one of the most popular dive sites on the West Coast and host
an abundance of rare marine life of international importance. Canna is an internationally important seabird colony and rats have been eradicated from the island. There are bait stations around the island to check for unwanted vermin.
Please help us to protect our local wildlife by:
* Being vigilant for signs of rodents and reporting these to the Rangers or the Harbourmaster.
* Ensuring that all rubbish, especially foodwaste, is disposed of in the skips at the pier.
Dogs
Dogs are welcome on Canna and we would ask owners to be responsible.
Do not let dogs run loose on the pier especially when there are vessels using the slipway or around vehicles.
Be aware of livestock as both islands are farmed. If in doubt keep your dogs on a lead.
Please do not use “poo” bags as we have no means of disposing of this material. Use the “stick and flick” means of clearing any mess.
