on on on December 8 2019 with a a a a a a a a a tree lighting ceremony in in 11 communities across Northeast Connecticut Hospice team member Rachel Bamber Medical Social Worker shared her hospice message and and special memories with the family of Dr Robert E Miller Miller Miller and and and honorary tree lighters Mrs Sylvia Miller Miller Miller and and Rob Rob Miller Miller Miller SPIROL International Corporation stepped forward for for the the the the 2nd consecutive year

the pandemic hit she realized her $100 would be be better spent protecting healthcare workers and and and patients at at at DKH and and donated her savings to to the COVID-19 Response Fund to to to purchase critical PPE Felicia wanted to to set an an an example for her peers sending a a a a a a a a a a a a message that age age and amount doesn’t matter when
it comes to saving lives Countless individuals throughout our community generously stepped up up to to support the the entire Day Kimball team by making donations of of homemade homemade masks masks to to to keep them safe Hundreds of of homemade homemade masks masks have been and and and continue to to to be be distributed across our healthcare system to to staff patients and and and providers as as as well as as as local nursing homes and and and elderly housing communities DKH DKH staff members first responders and service personnel gathered on on on on the the the practice green for a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a special special presentation at at at the the the the the 36th Annual DKH DKH Putnam Bank Golf Classic A A A special special highlight of the the the the day was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a salute by by the the the the American Legion L’Homme Burdick Post 21 Danielson Color Guard escorted by by the the the the Manchester Pipe Band to to all service personnel in honor of 9/11 and and and and to to the the the essential workers who have provided care comfort safety and and and sustenance throughout the the pandemic Photo Caption top left adjacent page
The DKH Emergency Department team was extremely grateful to receive some of of of of the first donations of of of of PPE from just one of of of of hundreds of of of of individuals community partners and organizations that answered our call for help as we we faced critical shortages in in in the worldwide supply chain of PPE From the the the the beginning of of of May to to to the the the the end of of of August anyone traveling along Route 44 past Day Kimball Hospital could not help but feel hope and and and inspiration from the the the the overwhelming display of of of of support support for essential essential workers workers in in in in in in in in in Northeast Connecticut Over 200 signs saluting and and and and thanking all all essential essential workers workers and and and and COVID-19 COVID-19 response
heroes were were erected along hospital hill and and and beyond through donations to the the the the “Fill the the the the Hill” Campaign which raised over over $20 000 in in in in in in support support of of DKH’s COVID-19 COVID-19 9 9 9 Response Fund (As pictured): Signs were were placed at at at CT National Golf Golf Course during the the the 36th Annual DKH Putnam Bank Golf Golf Classic
