As soon as she got home, Shannon took a
ladder out of the shed and climbed up to a
spot where three branches grew out of the

trunk. She pushed the birdhouse into the
notch between the branches. When it was
very snug, she attached it to the tree with big
sturdy screws.

After climbing down, she looked up and
realized that the house seemed to become part
of the old tree… and she smiled.
