Life in the Jewish Quarter
In Old Jerusalem, the Jews live in the Jewish Quarter until 1948.
2,500 Jews live there until 1948.
There is not a lot of room in the Jewish Quarter, and the
apartments are small and very expensive, but the people live
together happily.
They live together in small house with one courtyard for a few
houses.
And their lives are almost always in the courtyard.
The children play in the courtyard.
The women do laundry and cook and talk- in the courtyard.
And in the evening, the men drink coffee and talk- in the
courtyard.
