Rachel Kremer was Meir Feinstein's girlfriend. She was a single daughter of a rich
family. Meir was born in the old city and at the age of 16 he traveled to Europe to fight
the Germans. He was in the British army for two years and when he came to the land
(of Israel) he joined [entered] the Etsel and fought the British. The members of the
Etsel wanted to get the British out of Israel. Rachel, his girlfriend worked with him in
the Etsel and her parents didn't know anything. The love between Rachel and Meir
flourished, but they didn't see much of each other. Meir was in a lot of operations
against the British and on [in] the 31st of October 1946 he went out with three friends
in order to blow up the British train station to Jerusalem, which brought the British a
lot of arms. Somebody told the British and they waited for Meir and his friends and
caught them. The Jewish soldiers fought against the British and Meir was wounded in
his arm. He was left armless. He ran from the British but they saw the blood and
caught him and put him in prison. His sentence was death. In jail he met Moshe
Barazani – a youngster who was also sentenced to death. Mair and Moshe did not want
to give the British the possibility of [to] killing them and they asked their friends for a
grenade. They wanted to commit suicide. Rachel came to visit Meir from far away
everyday. She knew who Meir was by the amputated arm and when she visited him for
the last time he hugged her and whispered to her, "Don't worry, the British won't kill
me." He told her to get married and requested, "if you're privileged to have boys, name
one of them after me." Moshe and Meir wanted to blow themselves up at the exact
moment in which they'll be executed, but when they found out that Rabi Arie Levin
will come to be with them in their last moments they decided to dye a day earlier, in
order to not heart him. On the 22nd of April at 4am, one day before the execution,
Rachel stood near the prison and heard a loud explosion. Moshe and Meir put the
grenade in between them and were killed on the spot. After a lot of time Rachel got
married to a commander in the Israeli army and bore his children. She named one of
them Meir.
