In the letter of apology that was attached to the surprising package, the young
woman from the center of Israel wrote to the Hotel Public Relations manager –
Leon Ben Amron, that she apologized and asked for forgiveness for stealing
systematically from the hotel over the years. "I decided to return all what I have
taken, because we became religious (Ba'alat Tshuva) (apparently she and her
husband) and we regret our deeds" she wrote.
"We are aware of the severity of our deeds and we ask for mercy and forgiveness"
The woman even mentioned her address on the envelope, without fear, and
attached it to the huge bag, in which tens of stolen items were put in.
Ben Amron told, that the hotel general manger, Paul Melotzki, was shocked by the
quantities.
"This is a familiar woman in the hotel", he said. "She used to stay here several
times each year. Her decision to return the stolen property was of course received
with astonishment, but also with great satisfaction.
Ben Amron added "If she asked for mercy and forgiveness and expressed sorrow
– who are we, that because of several tens of items will not forgive her?
