Mother and Prime Minister

Congratulations to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, who becomes a mother for
the first time this morning, at the age of thirty seven. This is the second time in history that a prime
minister gives birth while in office. The first in Benazir Bhutto, Prime Minister of Pakistan, who
gives birth in nineteen ninety. Jacinda is an example for a woman who is both a mother and has an
important career, something that even in two thousand eighteen (you) don’t see much of. Now she’s
on a six week vacation, but still knows exactly what’s going on in New Zealand.
