                        Want to be Mozart

Six year old Shani’s two older sisters (have been) playing the piano since
she crawled under pianos as a baby. The moment Shani was tall enough to
reach the pedals with her feet, she started playing right away. Eleven year
old Noa is already an experienced pianist: last year she won second place
at the ‘Piano Forever’ competition in Ashdod. The experience only slightly
makes the pre-concert pressure easier. Shani will compete this year for the
first time at a youngsters’ competition that will start in Ashdod this week,
and one of the competitors in her age group, six to eleven, will be her older
sister Noa. Sisters Lisa, aged nine, and eight year old Katya, are already
used to competing against each other; last year it was Katya, the younger
(sister), who won second place, whereas Lisa got to third place. The
pressure of a competition and concerts in front of a large audience at such
a young age, actually helps the sisters in tests at school. Noa and Shani
agree that it’s a bit annoying to practice when (their) friends are at the
mall, but as the song goes, for fame (you) have to sweat a little bit.
