From the Arts Rep...
Cello there! It’s been such an amazing year with you all! I’ve learnt so much – to even begin to describe it I’d just say I’ll start the year again with what I now know. It sure has kept me on my toes and made it an unforgettable year!
Formal dinners
Wow... the talent at St Margaret’s this year has never failed to blow me away. I hope you enjoyed the opportunity to share your talent and experience the dining hall acoustic!
Margs concert and Bach in the Subways
In March we joined the international movement ‘Bach in the Subways’ and played some of Bach’s music in the foyer.
An informal concert on August 23rd was the perfect opportunity to share some music with the audience of 25 or so - the performances were so good!
Friendlink concert
I’m so grateful to have been involved in this event with the people of Friendlink. They’ve been coming to Margs for a good 20 years for some music, kai and korero. One of the best parts of the role for sure!
Choir
Choir is the biggest and most time-consuming part of the Arts Rep role but this also makes it incredibly rewarding. It was so nerve-wracking standing up the front that first day so I’m proud to think how far we’ve all come. This year we performed Heal the World at the May graduation and Friendlink, and Joy to the World at Midwinter Christmas. We sang Africa and Nanea Ana too.
We participated in a few of the Intercollege Cultural Competition events on the music side, with performances at the Māori/Pasifika Charity Performance, the International Performance and the Big Sing. I was also MC for the Musical Jam.
I’d like to thank the rest of the exec for being such an awesome group of people to work with ❤️
And a huge congratulations and good luck to the 2019 Arts Rep!
