Wowie its already the end of the year aye! The time spent here felt so short, and at the same time felt so packed. Through it all though, one thing I can say is that getting the role of First Year Rep was one of the greatest things that have happened for me in my life.
At the start of this year, I was given a nudge by someone to go for First Year Rep, and by the time I realised, I’d had this role for almost a whole university year. I never would have expected to have gained so much by becoming the First Year Rep in the exec. This role made me do things that the past me would have no clue on what to do, such as contacting outside companies for leavers gear. I feel that have begun to become a person who holds more confidence in his own strengths ,and feel that I have gotten just that little bit closer to who I want to become.
My role this year in the Exec was to be pretty much helping do stuff with Laurie. The role consisted of Tea and Toast, Talent Quest, Sock Tag, and Leavers Gear, and I think we did a banger of a job. Thought I would chuck it in here but Laurie, you the real MVP. Hope your time as College Leader is just as mean as this year was for us aye.
To be honest though, being first year rep at the beginning seemed low key scary at first, because by the time I realised I got the part I was somehow eating dessert at some high-class place with people who felt so adult-y unlike what I thought of myself. However, after a few meetings, and a few events (like the solid dance for mid-winter Christmas), I have come to love (no homo aye), respect, and cherish these people who I may never have met properly otherwise. Legit, yous are some of the coolest fellas I’ve gotten to know aye. Brittany, Souhei, Wanli, Josephine, Christian, Seonwoo, Loame, Ellen, Katie and Laurie. I am so glad I ended up in this role with you guys always there to help me, whether it was help in getting a part of my role sorted or opening the canteen, so I could top up on my dumplings. Shot for the good times aye and I hope that sometime once again I can meet a group of people I feel so proud to be next to as I have felt this year being next to you all.
