YEAR 10 SNOW SHOE EXPEDITION
The annual Snow Shoe Expedition, to Mt Kosciusko is invaluable briefing of survival in the snow. The
always a highlight of the Stage 5 Wilderness Education students are always left with a deep respect for
elective. his achievement, and for the risks involved in such
expeditions.
The expedition is held in Term 3 and the Year 10
students spend much of Term 2 preparing for their
adventure.
As part of their preparations, Mr Parrish Robbins
(Head of Outdoor Education) invites Mr Greg
Mortimer OAM, to provide the students with a
briefing on the skills and the focus they will need to
complete their week-long expedition in the unforgiving
environment of the Snowy Mountains. Mr Mortimer is
one of the first two Australians to reach the summit of
Mt Everest, which they climbed in 1984.
